User's Guide to
Virtual Environmental Manager
Database Program

Chapter 8.  Security

Security

Password Protection

This application may be distributed with database password protection.  If so, Access will prompt the User for the appropriate password before opening VEM.  The database password can be removed or changed in the Access Tools – Security toolbar menu.

NOTE:  The application is designed to compact the database on closing.  Because compacting requires that the database be momentarily closed, then reopened before closing again, the User is prompted to supply the password again at the time VEM is exited.  Failure to enter the password at this time will prevent Access from compacting the database.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you choose to change the password or set a new password, make certain to save a record of the new password in a safe place.  If you lose or forget the password, we cannot get you back into the VEM program!

Project Lock

The underlying Visual Basic® code for the VEM database application is locked to prevent unauthorized changes to the code that may affect program functionality.  The code remains the property of T. Cozzie Consulting, Inc.  The password key to the program may be made available for viewing and editing upon receipt of written request and execution of a confidentiality agreement.
