Chapter 1.  Introduction

Introduction

The Virtual Environmental Manager (or Virtual Environmental, Health & Safety Manager) is a data management application developed for the Microsoft® Access Database Management System.  It is designed to assist organizations of all sizes, particularly manufacturing facilities, in maintaining compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations.  Virtual Environmental Manager provides a means to schedule, track and record compliance management activities in the following areas:

  • Air emissions
  • Wastewater and stormwater discharges
  • Oil spill prevention and control
  • Hazard communication
  • Solid and hazardous wastes
  • Pollutant storage tanks
  • Toxic and hazardous materials
  • Pollution prevention and waste minimization
  • Occupational safety and health
  • And much more!

In addition, Virtual Environmental Manager is set up to support development and implementation of an environmental management system (EMS) in accordance with the ISO 14001 international standard.
